Joia i emoció altra vegada!

I want to thank Marta for sending me her experience so I can share it in this little blog.
The stone her daughter Gala holds is the first stone I have constancy that was found.

It's been a while since we've been following Angaleta’s proposals from her blog “Encenent la imaginació” at home. Modestly, I keep trying that my eldest daughter (who’s still little, she turned four recently) get enthusiastic with some of this ideas. From all those ideas, there was one that enthralled me immediately: the #happystone. When I was a child, I always loved to pick up stones, watch them, paint them ,  pile them …
I followed every blog post from Angaleta about #happystone when, a few weeks ago, we had our first surprise: We went with some friends to Port de la Selva, to the electronic music festival for kids Sónar Kids. By mid-afternoon, strolling along the promenade, my daughter (at that moment she was three and a half y.o.) exclaimed: “ - Look mom, a painted stone!”. From the moment I saw it, I just could not believe it, I knew what it was: that face, the eyes, the eyelashes, that nose… It was a #happystone! I explained to Gala what was a #happystone and I encouraged her to paint happy stones and liberate them to make other kids happy. From that moment on, everytime we went to a beach, we collected stones to paint and liberate them.

Now we can say, we’ve become authentic #stonepainters” and #rockhunters. I don’t know what makes us more excited: painting or finding them. To Gala, I know that what she likes most, is finding them, this I’ve noticed it myself, when a massive #happystone liberation happened i our own town. Some days ago, Angaleta came to Figueres to run a #happystone workshop. Unfortunately we could not assist to it, but I followed the activity development through Facebook. That same Saturday, the children massively liberated the stones they painted on the workshop in the downtown area. Four days later I went to that same place, feeling myself like a real treasure hunter. I thought that, after four days, maybe no stones would remain there. I went there alone, without Gala, just to study the place… and it turned out that yes, there were stones. At first, I found a little one, on top of a concrete ledge in the municipal archives wall. What a dream! This encouraged me to keep looking further. It was my lucky day, after looking for a while among the bushes, well hidden I saw what I thought it could only be two more #happystones. Joy and excitement again! But I didn’t touched them. I thought that after 4 days undiscovered, a few hours later they would be still there. So, in the afternoon, when Gala got off school, I told her somebody tattled me there were some #happystones hidden around and, if she wanted to, we could try to find them. She joined in a hurry. Surreptitiously, I guided she where the stones were, until… oh! Surprise! She found two #happystones! That made her so happy! After that she kept saying, “- Let’s look for more #happystones!” She spend a while looking for more stones and at last, without she noticing it, I simulated that I found the little one I did found in the morning (otherwise she would never had wanted to leave!). Finally I told her that there wasn’t anymore of them, that I was told there were just three of them, and we had already found them.

Since that day, she knows what a #happystone is, for well, and from time to time when we’re out in the street she says "- Mom, maybe we will find some #happystones! Let's look for them!”.

Now at home we’ve set a place to keep the #happystones we found and, in return, we collect some other stones to paint and liberate them.

We love this way of create urban art, and we think that we can positively influence the mood of others. Bridging the gap, the way I feel is like we are starting a small chain of favors.

We’ll keep painting stones and liberating them!

Pedres spin art · Spin art stones.

Pedres spin art. · Spin art stones.

Pintura + centrifugadora d'enciam.

Moviment, traç i trajectòria.

One of our favorite techniques to paint stones, is spin art. At home, we've been exploring two different ways to create spin-art stones.

Paint + salad spinner.
It consists of creating designs, trying color combinations and, in a heartbeat, transform them radically and irreversibly, allowing centrifugal force and randomness create motifs and whimsical drawings. More speed, more fun.

Paint + swivel surface.

It consists of creating designs basing on the circular movement of the stones placed on top of a swivel surface in movement. Movement, trace and trajectory.
